Catch up

I have been bad about keeping up on this... I have done a few run/walks of 1 min run 1 min walk for 2 miles since my last post.

Today I did a run/walk of 3 miles. 3 min running and 2 miles walking for 3 miles total. I did a 1 mile cool down walk at the end. Felt great. Hopefully I can get a little longer run interval in within a few weeks.

Monday

Today was going to be a rest day, but I was so excited about hearing the baby's heartbeat that I had tons of energy. I decided to do a short walk, I did 2 miles of hills. Felt great. Hoping to run again tomorrow.

Where have I been?

Well since finding out I was pregnant (yay!) at the beginning on June I have been sidelined from running since week 5 of my pregnancy due to nausea and fatigue. Wow it is amazing how much work growing a baby is. All those pregnant ladies are not kidding when they talk about the fatigue and nausea, it is all true!

During those 8 weeks I have done some walking more towards the end and finally (yay) I am back to running a little bit. It has felt great so far!

Thursday (13 weeks 4 days) I ran/walked 2 miles... 1 min running at 12 min/miles, 1 min walking at 17 min/miles then another 1 mile walk for a total of 3 miles. I also did some strength training exercises before the run.

Friday I went for a nice walk with Jeff, about 2.5 miles.

Sunday: I did another run/walk...2 miles, 1 min run @12 min/miles, 1 min walk at 17min/mile and then another 1 mile walk for a total of 3 miles. Also did some strength training before the run.

I ran 3 miles of intervals. It was challenging but not too challenging, doable. i ran 1 min at 8 mph (7:30 pace) and then walked at 4 mph for 1 minute for a toal of 3 miles. Took 30 minutes 23 seconds.

Saturday I ran 10 miles with Jocelyn in Hillsboro. We ran it in 1 hour and 45 minutes a 10:32 pace. Felt great and the time FLEW by! So great to be running with my running partner again!

I ran 3 miles of intervals this afternoon. 1 minutes at 4 mph (15 min/mile) and 1 min at 7 mph (8:34 min/mile) for 3 miles. Felt great! the 7 mph felt easy. Maybe could have bumped it up but wanted to make it to the end without slowing down.

9 miles!

Yippie! This morning I ran 9 miles. Overall, it went very well. The total time was 1 hour and 34 minutes, that's a 10:33 min/mile pace. I feel very good about that. It was warm, about 68 the whole time, I felt a bit warm the whole time (even though I wore shorts and a tank). Summer is coming, time to get used to running in a bit more heat!

I ran 4 miles this morning. It was a little tougher than normal. My legs felt tight and tired. I did finish it though and did 2 30 seconds sprints at 8 mph (7:30) at the end.

I ran 3 miles of intervals, 2.5 miles of 1 min @ 4mph(15min/miles) and 1 min @ 7.5 mph (8:34 min/mile), then did .5 miles, 20 seconds @ 8 mph (8 min/miles) and 10 seconds rest, then 1 mile easy @ 5.4 mph (11 min/miles).

Kinda random, but it was good and fun!

The beginning of the run was challenging but it got easier with time. The last mile was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

2 miles and legs

This afternoon I did a fast run/ weight training workout. I did 3 minutes at 6.5 (9:13 pace) and then did 2 leg exercises and 1 ab exercise, 3 minutes running etc. Total of 21 minutes running, 2 miles and 40 minutes of weights, total of 60 minutes. It was a good workout to keep my attention and keep me from getting bored and wanting to stop. That is the kind of workout I need in the afternoons to stay motivated!

This morning (Friday, BEFORE work) I ran 7 miles! I got up at 4:45 because we are going out of town today and I wouldn't have time tomorrow to run. I ram it in 73 minutes about 10:25 pace. The last mile I ran intervals of 6 mph for 30 seconds and 6.3 30 seco, 6- 30 sec, 6.5...6.7...6.9...7.1... then repeated one more time. I was proud of myself for pushing my mental limits!

Today I ran 8 miles (on the treadmill) at a 10:40 pace, total time 85 minutes then walked 2 miles (I was watching a movie and wanted to finish it. Felt great. Had to push a little at the end to get the last two miles of running done, just wasn't feeling it. I did finish though. The wind is hollowing outside and I didn't want to fight it to go for a run.

Today I did 6 miles (long run) at a average pace of 10:32. Felt good, was challenging at the end but I did the whole thing without walking. First long run of the half marathon training!

I also did 60 minutes of upper body strength training (chest, back, biceps, triceps, shoulders and abs).

Tomorrow I am planning on doing 3 miles easy run and strength training legs.

Today I ran 4 miles! I was only going to do 3, then 3.5 then decided to go for 4! It was quite hard at first but after a mile or two I was feeling much better. Total time 43:20 for the run.

Saturday and Sunday

Saturday I ran 4 miles outside. Not going to lie, it was challenging but I did it and ran the whole time. A bit slow, 11 min/miles but I guess that is to be expected with the lack of running going on in my life at the moment.

Sunday I did 45 minutes of whole body exercises.... 2 sets of 2 different moves for legs, chest, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps and abs. Felt good to get back into some strength training. I also ran 20 minutes of intervals... 1 minute at 7mph (8:30 min/miles) and 1 min at 4 mph (15 min/mile) for a total of 20 minutes, then 25 minutes of walking at 4.0 mph. For a total of 45 minutes and 3 miles.

Today I ran 2.5 miles in 28 minutes. Finally got back into things today and am so happy about it. After being sick for a week I am ready to get back into it. It was a hard run but I stuck it out for the 2.5 miles.

Well what was supposed to be a 9.44 mile run turned into a 1 mile run and a 3.5 mile walk. I have had this soar throat and a nasty cough for about a day or two and when I was running it felt like my lungs were on fire. Now as I sit here I am hacking up a lung! uhg I should have known. Oh well at least I got my cardio in :)

This morning we went and played 9 holes of golf! So fun! perfect weather too!

This afternoon I did ab ripper x and kenpo x. I wasn't really sure if I was going to get a workout in since my morning was thrown off a bit (had to get blood work done fasting). I am so happy that I did actually do something though!

Tomorrow I was planning on doing a longish run outside, however, it looks like there is going to be rain/snow in the morning so that plan might not actually happen. We'll see in the morning what the weather is doing and what I decide to do.

Today I did p90x legs and back and p90x ab ripper. Went way better doing it before a run I was not as fatigued.

I also did 3 miles- 5 min warm up, 2 miles at 3.5 at 10% incline, 1 min recovery, 1 min at 6.5 mph, 1 min recovery, repeat for 45 minutes total.

Walking at the incline was challenging.

Last week's totals and this week's plan

So I am thinking since I am not going to be working this summer we need to save some money. I am now going to probably not run the half in May and just plan on running the half or full marathon in Billings in September. Maybe I will do the Missoula half in July as well, we'll see what time it is and if I can fit it in without having to stay in a hotel. We'll see... Onward...

This week I ran 20.75 miles.

This coming week my plan is to run 25 miles

Monday and Wednesday I want to do doubles, a run/ workout in the morning and a run/ workout in the evening. Hoping I can do it, I want to get used to doing two workouts a day.

Thursday I ran 3 miles in about 32 minutes (I cannot remember now ) Felt good, kinda hard was ready to be done. After I finished the p90x workout I started on Sunday.

Friday I did arms and shoulders p90x and did some ab exercises afterwards. My arms feel very tied now! I did most exercises with 15 pounds this time. I think I may be sore tomorrow!

Today I ran 3.5 miles in 43:30 (10:50 pace) and walked .25 miles on either side. It felt great. I even ran it at 11 am after breakfast and after church. Didn't feel sick at all. 1/2 of the p90x legs and back. Didn't finish because my legs were wasted.

Strength training today

Today I did arms and shoulders p90x. My half marathon schedule says to do a 4 mile run today but I decided to switch a few things around since i have a Junior League meeting Saturday morning. I will do my long run of 6 mile tomorrow, 3 miles (maybe) on Saturday and 4 miles on Sunday. Making it work!

Today I ran 3 miles. It was challenging towards the end. My foot wasn't hurting too bad it was just hard since it has been 3 weeks since I had run 3 miles. I then walked .75 miles for a total of 4 miles. My foot feels fine while in a shoe. Hoping I am going to be okay. After my run I did 3x30 single leg lift, 3x20 laying down leg kick backs, 3x20 side leg lifts (each side). These were challenging. I really want to do p90x legs and back but I don't want to push it and put so much weight on my foot. Tomorrow I will take the day off running. Not sure if I will do chest and back or if I will take a rest day.

walk and p90x arms and shoulders

Today when I got up Jeff asked if I wanted to go for a walk. How was I supposed to turn that down! So we went for a 2.34 mile walk. It was really icy so we just went on an out and back on Bitterroot. It was nice to get outside for some exercise. I considered running when we got back but decided the walk was enough as far as putting weight on my foot. I did p90x arms and shoulders. I upped the weight for some of the exercises from 10lbs to 15 lbs. It was definitely a challenge. Hope to feeling tomorrow :)

2.5 miles

Today I decided to run even though my foot was till hurting a little. Once I put on my shoes I was fine. Kinda funny how shoes do that! Anyway ran 2.5 and walked 1 for a total of 3.5. Felt really good during the run and wanted to go further but decided not to as to not reinjure myself. Off to shower and ice it to make sure the healing continues.

Rest day

I feel like I am writing rest day a lot! Oh well I need to take things easy and slowly as to not injure myself!
I didn't do anything today. I have been thinking that I may need to reevaluate my plan. Maybe go down to running every other day instead of 2-3 days in a row. I may try that and see how it works for me.

Today I ran 2 miles and walked 1.4 miles. It felt good while running, however my foot is now hurting a bit more. What a frustrating process. I am thinking about taking tomorrow off to see if that helps. Oh well, still getting there!

Yay.... I ran 1 mile!

I cannot believe I am cheering for 1 mile, but after 2 full weeks off of running due to a foot injury I will take it! I ran 1 mile and walked 2. Felt good. Foot still feels good (7:30pm) so hoping I am heading towards being off the injured list! I am planning on running 1.5 miles on Tuesday. and adding .5 a day until I get back up to 3-4 miles and then .5 more on Friday/Saturday to build up my base again.

Finally trying to get back into things...

Yesterday I walked 2.5 miles (15m/m) at an incline of 5%. My foot felt okay, it was still a little tender, I was too scared to run still. I am thinking that I will try to run on Tuesday morning if it feels okay. This is a start, at least I am walking :)
